ARTIST STATEMENT
I was sitting in my grandparent’s living room in northern Ohio with a stack of computer paper and would compulsively draw sequential images. I was about seven when I decided that doing this is what I wanted to do with my life no matter what.
I’ve always loved telling stories with pictures. I specialize in 2D traditional animation using both the computer (Flash, Harmony, After Effects) and traditional cell animation. I find there is a warm and familiar quality to this style and it is important to keep it current and relevant and the only way to accomplish this is to create new, strange and interesting ideas.
Making comics and keeping the tradition of pen, ink, and paper and keeping the organic quality of the human hand in my work as much as possible. I’ve studied a multitude of printing processes including offset, digital offset, silk screening, lithography and woodcut printing. This includes both the artistic and aesthetic study of these things as well as its practical purposes.
